Hi, my name is ______ and I live in your district. Now that you are back in DC, your number one priority must be to address how COVID is killing disabled people.
We are safest in our own homes, but Congress has not done ANYTHING to make sure Home and Community Based Services are available to keep us in our own homes. We are dying in institutions, but Congress still has not made the program that can get us home, Money Follows the Person, permanent.
It is time to get to work on the next round of COVID relief and it MUST include at least $20 Billion to fund Home and Community Based Services and other community living needs such as fair pay and protective equipment for the community workforce and affordable, accessible, integrated housing as proposed in S.3544.
Finally, Money Follows the Person deserves to be a permanent program and must also be a priority to help those who choose to move away from dangerous institutions and into their own homes and communities.
