Issues

Here we highlight the core policy priorities driving National ADAPT’s advocacy: ensuring people with disabilities can live with dignity and autonomy in their communities rather than in institutions. Central concerns include expanding accessible, affordable, and integrated housing, strengthening community-based services and supports, and building a stable, fairly paid direct-care workforce that enables independent living. The platform also emphasizes enforcement of civil rights and integration mandates, opposition to segregation or institutionalization, and the development of policies that promote full participation in community life. Together, these issues reflect ADAPT’s broader mission to “free our people” by advancing community integration, economic security, and equal access to housing and services for people with disabilities.
